Long time...

I must have started using the internet in 2006, just visiting game sites and downloading anime episodes and music. The internet speed was like.. a little, little bytes, and some bytes took 40 minutes to download things. I was still using diskettes, and I ran an N64 emulator on it to play Zelda: Ocarina of Time (it was my first encounter with this universe, and I'm still in love with it). I didn't really get into social media until around 2008, if I'm not mistaken. I was in my late high school years, so I was using MSN and Orkut. I used Orkut to access silly groups like "I hate Mondays," and most of the groups were for game walkthroughs. Not that I had many games to play, I just liked reading about games I'd like to play someday.

Still, I didn't post much, and I didn't talk much to anyone. At that time, I was somewhat aware of the risks of the internet, like running into some crazy stranger with questionable interests in minors. And there was also no point in talking to friends who were my neighbors; I could see them at any time. During this time, I joined DeviantArt, plucked up the courage to join the artistic community, and post my drawings, made on paper and scanned. I also created a Tumblr, but at first I only reblogged fandom stuff. Anyway, I only started making online friends after I joined Facebook. I was about to start college, so it was reasonably important to have a profile there, since I would need to keep in touch with future work groups there.

As time went on, I started using Instagram more, back when it was more focused on photos. And taking photos is my favorite thing to do. I started Twitter around the same time, when it was just a microblog, but I didn't use it much; I never thought I had anything really relevant to post. I kept Twitter afterward, just to follow funny pages, cute puppy video accounts, memes, and other artists. I even spent some time posting frequently when I was more involved in the furry community. The advantage of this is that I never liked posting real photos of myself online; being masked made it much easier to post real photos. These days, most of my accounts are only for viewing the feed, aka funny videos and following freelance artists. At the same time, to this day, I've maintained my privacy under fursonas/personas. I've never stopped protecting my privacy.

So these days, I keep most of my profiles active, but I hardly post anything anymore. My Tumblr is still there with some old blogs from my furry fandom days, if you want to check it out. (It's in Portuguese, though). I've completely abandoned my furry Instagram; I'm working up the courage to back up some photos and delete it at some point.I also created an artist Instagram, but I lost the desire to post there.

I only keep Twitter for funny videos; I don't post anything there anymore, except sometimes when I'm accepting commissions. But the algorithms are as bad as Instagram's, and I've lost my motivation there too. Oh, I created Bluesky after Twitter became X and alt-right and whatever. I keep DeviantArt because... I don't know, sometimes I see my favorites folder again. I haven't posted anything there in years, and the feed is full of AI. For a long time, I posted funny videos of myself in fursuits on TikTok, but once again the algorithm messed everything up and shadowbanned me for apparently posting in costume (?). I locked my account to public and still watch funny videos and cute puppy videos there too. Facebook is there, only because some friends still insist on using it, so I'm there to see their daily lives.

Well, after reading this, you might think I hate social media and algorithms. But honestly, I've always been a more off-the-grid person and still don't know how to interact well in general, haha. To this day, I don't remember opening my phone or anything like that. In fact, there are things that have increasingly discouraged me from continuing to post on these sites, but honestly, that's also tiring and can be bad for the mind. These days, I'm trying to pursue hobbies outside the internet. At most, I'll be posting my drawings and some blogs.

So here my Beacons in case you want to see my old things.
