Climate & Economy

We cannot talk about the environment without linking it to economics or anthropology, as they impact each other. But, among all the types of economics we've experienced over thousands of years, nothing as abusive (at least in pre-industrial times) has been seen as it is now. I was born under the rule of capitalism, and I wouldn't say my life was bad, because I'm one of the privileged few who have the minimum amount of money necessary to survive. But one can't say much about the thousands of people who don't receive the same. They don't have the currency to buy food, but there's also no land for them to grow that food. On the other hand, there's a lot of leftovers in the trash.

I won't go into detail here because I don't understand much about economics or politics, although I flirt with Ecosocialism, all my lay mind can say is that capitalism is leading us to more inequality and environmental destruction, exhausting our resources to the maximum, in the name of profit for a global minority.

Why this page?

I think I've always been a science enthusiast. And when I learned biology in elementary school, I knew I wanted to pursue that path. Well, I think watching Pokémon also gave me a boost.

But from an early age, I worried about the state of the planet. I was born in the late 1990s, and I grew up with the ozone hole and global warming. I think they stopped talking about it for a while in mainstream media due to anxiety. But now, after all these years, the topic isn't far away anymore, as we're seeing the impacts more and more.

Yes, I studied biology, I even got a master's degree in ecology, but I think my brain had already been melted by various other stressors. Due to depression, I had to abandon even trying to be an activist; I had to retire and become a bit more reclusive, for my own good.

These days, I read the news and write reflections, which sometimes I post, sometimes I don't. What interests me most is paleotology and zoology! I try my best here to at least bring the topic to the table.

I still have hope that one day people will wake up, stop fighting among themselves, and plant more greenery around here.

Hello!

I created this page as a pool of environmental news. Be careful with environmental anxiety triggers; there are topics about global warming and the like here.
